Last day of school

Leaving this great school (and city) with mixed feelings, sad to leave their friends here and excited for the next part of the adventure (and of course catch up with buddies back home). Superstars!

Fall in København

This picture is a decent summary of life right now; bike helmets, rain coats and Birkenstocks. Add some nice food and hygge and that about covers it. We hope that everyone is doing well!

They say every true Dane has 2 bikes...that’s got to be a million bikes at the Nørreport station alone! And there’re only 600,000 people in København.

Week 3 - long drives and more fun

From the Mediterranean we headed southwest to the Pyrenees. Stayed at the remote, old casa petita and paddled the Mont-Rebei Gorge. Then back to Barcelona to enjoy some time with the Penwardens. Studied up on Antoni Gaudi a bit visiting both the Sagrada Família (construction began in 1882 and they’re hoping to be done in 2026, but Gaudi’s last plans were destroyed in a fire so there’s some contention about the intended vision so who knows!) and Park Güell. He really did have a one of a kind style with remarkable elegance, designing both practicality and beautiful artistry into his work. Had an absolute blast!

Week 2 - balance

Saturday (22 JUN 2019) we flew into Barcelona and drove to Toulouse. Amy had a plenary speech to give and 3 days at a conference while the girls and I explored the city (3rd largest in France). Then, we all headed to Collioure for a couple days in the Deep South of France on the Mediterranean. Old town with castles and markets and beaches. We had some nice meals (including traditional Algerian) and fine wine...and a blast just goofing off as a family.

Week 1 of the adventure

What a fantastic city, Copenhagen. We landed safely and entered into the wonderful Danish summer (sun rises at 3am and sets at 11pm). Started to get acclimated, fought jet lag, learned the train system, toured schools and the girls took placement exam, supplied biometrics and applied for visa, explored neighborhoods, dropped long-term items at the university, visited colleagues, had some wonderful meals and rode bikes (it's a critical skill here). Whew, felt like a month instead of a week. All is good, girls are well and happy though miss their buddies back home.

Easter Breakfast!

Great fun with the PHX crew...missed the Boston outlier and the Childress contingent. Happy Easter!
